Research starts with a question. Here, synpose brings together two public documents on the Boeing 737 MAX. More than five hundred pages, in one workspace.
Who approved the MCAS redesign, and when? Ask in your own words. synpose searches the documents and answers with references you can follow.
The automatic source check compares the answer with the retrieved passages. It helps you spot statements that deserve a closer look.
Open a reference to see the original page, with the passage highlighted. Read it in context, and make your own judgement. From your question to the evidence behind it. All analysis runs locally on your Mac.

When did the FAA learn that MCAS could operate at low speed?
These passages do not establish a single date when the FAA learned of the change. Boeing told the Committee it had shared the expanded operating range with regulators on numerous occasions. The Committee’s own account is narrower: the new operating range appeared in certain communications with the FAA, but MCAS was not an area of particular emphasis.
The report separately states that the FAA officials who authorised removing MCAS from the flight manual remained unaware of the redesign until after the Lion Air crash.
At the October 2019 hearing, Boeing’s chief executive placed the manual decision in parallel with the extension of MCAS to low-speed operation, not after it.

Keep each investigation in its own project
Group PDFs with selectable text and plain text files into projects. Image-only scans need OCR before import.
Question the whole library at once
Ask about one document, a project, or your whole library. The search pulls the passages that match, not every page.
Full-text search in the original PDF
Search the original PDF for a specific term, or start from the overview and its key quotes.

What you can rely on
The answer is generated. The evidence is not.
A language model writes the answer, and it can be wrong. Every citation opens the stored passage, page, and source it points to. So you can check the basis yourself.

Public beta for macOS
Bring your next question.
synpose is free during the beta. Enter your email and we’ll send you the download link, plus occasional product updates.
Requires a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26.4 or later. Before your first import, you download a language model in the app. That needs an internet connection once and at least 5 GB of free disk space.
